Will you be covered for an infection?

Fever, cough, signs of corona infection? You can rest assured. With EDUCARE24’s insurance cover, you don’t need to fear high medical costs. The medical treatment of the corona virus infection is covered. In addition, EDUCARE24 includes coverage up to 90 days for medical expenses should you be forced to stay abroad for a longer period of time due to the infection.

Who will need a blocked account?

In general, you need a blocked account in Germany if your home country does not belong to the European Union or the Schengen states and if you want to stay in Germany for some time for specific reasons. For example, you might need a blocked account if you plan to spend some time in Germany as a student, language student or participant in an international exchange program as part of an education program.

Will a stay in your home country be covered?

You want to interrupt your stay abroad for a few days in order to spend some time at home? No problem. If you interrupt your stay abroad and spend time at home, you will have insurance cover for 6 weeks. You can also travel home several times as long as the overall duration does not exceed 6 weeks. There will be insurance cover for costs resulting from an accident or from an acute and newly acquired illness. If you travel to your home country at the end of the insurance period, this is not considered to be an interruption of your stay abroad. In this case, insurance coverage ends as soon as you arrive in your home country.

Does it matter if the countries that you’re going to visit belong to different premium categories?

Please proceed as follows: Changing area of validity up to 6 weeks If your stay in a country which belongs to a different area of validity does not exceed 6 weeks, you do not have to do anything. You have worldwide insurance coverage up to 6 weeks. E.g.: You travel to Panama for 6 months. On your way back home, you want to make a four-week stopover in the USA. Please choose “Worldwide travels excluding USA/Canada” as area of validity for the complete duration of your journey. Changing area of validity for more than 6 weeks

Will your health insurance be affected by a side job?

It is of no importance to EDUCARE24 insurance coverage if you have a side job in addition to your primary cause of residence. You should, however, clarify with your employer if such a side job is subject to social insurance contributions.

What should you do in case you need treatment at the hospital?

During the admission, please present your insurance card and the Ärzte-Info-Ticket (medical info card) which you received with your insurance certificate. Hospitals usually contact us after the admission and the billing will be settled directly with the hospital. The policy covers emergency treatment and urgent operations within compulsory health insurance without optional services. If such inpatient treatment is not an emergency treatment, we recommend arranging the details of the planned therapy beforehand with our claims department. This way, we can help you to minimize any financial risk.

What is a telephone helpline?

In an emergency, fellow students or counselors at university are the first and nearest available contact persons for students. An open conversation can often work wonders. If you do not want to talk to people at your university in a difficult situation, you can also contact the “TelefonSeelsorge” (telephone helpline).
