Does it matter if the countries that you’re going to visit belong to different premium categories?

Please proceed as follows: Changing area of validity up to 6 weeks If your stay in a country which belongs to a different area of validity does not exceed 6 weeks, you do not have to do anything. You have worldwide insurance coverage up to 6 weeks. E.g.: You travel to Panama for 6 months. On your way back home, you want to make a four-week stopover in the USA. Please choose “Worldwide travels excluding USA/Canada” as area of validity for the complete duration of your journey. Changing area of validity for more than 6 weeks

Will my current health insurance be sufficient for my studies in Germany?

For students from non-European countries the answer is “no”. If you come from a non-European country, taking out a German health insurance is required by law. Without a German health insurance you will not get a visa and cannot enroll at a German university. For students from Europe the requirements are not that strict. However, we recommend you seek advice from your health insurance provider.

Do you get the reasons as to why your visa got rejected by the embassy?

If you get your Visa rejected, don’t be discouraged, you can try again! The good side to the rejection is that once you get the letter from the embassy, you can use it to your advantage. In the letter it will be explained why you got your Visa rejected, so use that information the next time you apply!

What should you keep in mind after you finish your stay abroad as a student?

You should always keep your insurance certificate since the authorities in a number of home countries require proof of insurance for the time spent abroad.
