What is a so called subject related semester?
A subject-related semester is a semester in which you studied a specific subject, e.g. medicine.
Will a stay in your home country be covered?
You want to interrupt your stay abroad for a few days in order to spend some time at home? No problem.
If you interrupt your stay abroad and spend time at home, you will have insurance cover for 6 weeks. You can also travel home several times as long as the overall duration does not exceed 6 weeks. There will be insurance cover for costs resulting from an accident or from an acute and newly acquired illness. If you travel to your home country at the end of the insurance period, this is not considered to be an interruption of your stay abroad. In this case, insurance coverage ends as soon as you arrive in your home country.
In this case you should at least buy the Comfort Package. Liability claims within the scope of the au pair activity are insured up to 1 million Euro. This coverage is also valid for language students who live with families with children and carry out similar activities as au pairs.
However, we recommend the conclusion of the Plus Package, because it covers additional claims which can occur within the scope of an au pair activity. The key loss risk as well as damage to the host family’s property are examples of this.
